Shoot and Share Photography Contest

Bridals, children, Couples, Family Pictures, Outdoor Photography, Photography, Studio, WeddingKendra HillComment

Every year in February, my favorite photography event comes to pass. Shoot and Share is a month-long contest where photographers can enter up to 50 images and then everyone comes together to vote. Anyone can vote, not just photographers. In fact, I voted with my children quite often and they loved it. There are 12 rounds of voting, and after each round more images are cut until they have the winners. After the contest is over you can see how your images placed. They give out badges for the top 30% of images in each category and below.

This is my second year participating. I’m glad to say that I did better than last year, even with stiffer competition and more photos entered! In 2017, a total of 330,116 images were entered from photographers around the world. This year, the count came to 412,379! I had 9 images in the top 30% or better in their respective categories in 2017, including one finalist image (top 500 in the category). In 2018 I had 14 images in the top 30%, and once again one finalist image.

You can see my images below!

I can’t wait to enter again next year and see how my images do! Voting is so fun, addicting, and inspiring! I recommend everyone give it a go next February. You can check out more on the contest here:

Family Pictures at the Provo Temple

How adorable is this family! Lucky me, I get to live across the street from them so I see them all the time. I have had the opportunity to photograph these little twin stud-muffins twice this year and it is so fun to see them grow. They didn't care much for any toys I'd brought, or any of my crazy dancing, sounds, or other antics, but they sure are cuties!

I was in very... relaxed attire for this photo shoot. I came straight from the hospital where I'd been overnight with my little girl and I'd forgotten extra clothes. I felt a little silly at the temple in my sweats, but you gotta do what you gotta do! At least they were really loose so I could really move to get the pictures I needed :)

In my Ninja Turtles t-shirt and sweat pants and taking family pictures at the Provo City Center Temple... forgot extra clothes. Oopsie!

Family Fun at the Farm

My parents got a new side-by-side so we decided to go to the family farm to check it out! We ended up giving the kids rides on the tractor as well, and they had a blast. And that sunset! WOW!

Poor Carson didn't get a picture on the tractor. He wasn't a fan of the side-by-side (screamed in terror the whole time) so we didn't want to subject him to more torture. We'll wait until he's a little older before teaching him how to drive one of these bad boys.

Originally, we had planned to do pictures in the middle of March, but that darn Utah weather..... it said it was supposed to rain. I kept a close eye on my weather app, and the day before we decided to reschedule because of health, and the 'impending' rain. Needless to say, the next day was beautiful and rain-free. Eeeehhhh.

We rescheduled, and on the day we planned, it was supposed to rain again. We decided to do it despite our apps warning of possible bad weather, and I'm glad we did! We had a few sprinkles for maybe 3 minutes, otherwise it was a beautiful day :) Oh Utah weather.

My Brother-in-Law is soon getting deployed for a few months, so we wanted to do their family pictures before he goes. Aren't they super cute? We went to Bicentennial Park in Provo and were able to get a couple of quick shots before we lost sunlight. And we were able to get little Ava to stand on her own right at the very end! She started taking a couple steps on her own just the day before, and then she was walking all over! But she didn't want to do it for the camera.... darn. We still had a fun time exploring the park and singing "Do as I'm Doing" over and over ;)

I had a great time doing pictures with this family on the Creer farm. Though it looks rather warm, it was freezing! Kudos to them for being troopers! Also for wearing sandals as we walked through the dirt and old cow poop.... It was all worth it for these great pictures and to let that little man see those awesome John Deere tractors! He was so excited!
