Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Kendra Leigh Photography and Video unique?
I am here for you through the whole process. I guide you as we design your ideal appointment from location choices and planning your outfits (and yes, you can text me photos or send me pins) to products you want for your home. I provide prints, albums, signature wall portraits, canvases, digital frames, and other beautiful keepsakes that you will cherish for a lifetime.
By the time we meet, it will be like we're old friends.
Where are you located?
Where will my session be?
The majority of media sessions are done in the Spanish Fork-Provo area. I have fabulous go-to spots that work for all types of sessions, but I will travel all over. Additional fees may be required outside of Utah County. Please inquire with your suggestions.
When should we book?
As soon as possible. I only accept a limited number of sessions per month. My recommendation is booking at least 4 weeks in advance. Spring and Fall are very busy for all of my sessions. If you're looking for a session during that time, contact me as early as possible.
What if I have to cancel?
In case of inclement weather, sickness, or other emergencies, your retainer fee is fully transferable to another day, but it is not refundable.
What time of day do you shoot and how long is the session?
The light just before sunset is the most ideal for pictures. Depending on the time of year, my sessions start between 4 and 6 PM. Daytime appointments on Saturday are also available, though the lighting conditions aren't as ideal as the evening. I am not available on Sundays. Family, Children, and Senior sessions usually last between 60-90 minutes. Studio mini sessions last 30 minutes.
Are prints, digital negatives, or DVDs included with my session fees?
For Family, Children, and Senior appointments, prints, custom products and digital files are not included with your session fee. Collections start at $385 for Seniors and Children, and Family Collections begin at $400. A la carte pricing starting at $35. Digital files are available to purchase and are included in most collections.
A thumb drive with edited images is included with Wedding Day coverage.
When doing a Lifestyle or Wedding video, you receive a custom DVD with your video, as well as a YouTube link to share with your friends and family.
Should I bring special props to the session?
Sure, if you'd like to. It can help your photos be more unique and POP!
What should I wear?
Wear what you love, and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Photographs are much more interesting if you’re not matchy matchy. Have a color scheme of 3-5 colors that you really like. If you are having a problem coming up with colors, you can use design-seeds.com to help you choose.
If you are not sure, you can always bring an extra outfit and we can decide on location. Also, keep location in mind if you want to change outfits. There is no knowing if you will have a private place to change.
My Style Guide will have more in-depth tips to help you feel prepared and beautiful come picture day.
What should I bring with me?
A water bottle. Sometimes taking pictures, especially if we’re walking to a location, can be very taxing. Having water will make you much happier.
You can bring your iPod filled with your favorite music. I will bring my Bluetooth speaker and we’ll blast music while we take great pictures.
Your child’s favorite toy or book. Sometimes this helps them feel more natural. But be sure you are okay with them being a prop in at least some of your images.
What if I have a pose that I want?
I try to come prepared with some poses and ideas for your photo shoot. But, if there is a certain picture that you would like, please email me an example and I will do my best to get the shot for you. You can also send them to me via Pinterest to @klphotographyandvideo. I also love when you have ideas as we shoot, working together can get us the best images.
I cannot promise the delivery of every image pose, or that every one will work. Pose options may vary with lighting, location, and participation of those in the image.
What happens after our appointment?
For photography, I will retouch 25+ of the images we captured and will contact you when they are complete (about 2-3 weeks) to schedule your Premiere Night. During your special evening, we will watch a custom slideshow of your images, eat yummy treats, and design beautiful wall art for your home. During your Premiere Night, you receive at least 25% off of our retail price, and have access to our Collections.
For video, I will edit our captured footage into a 3-4 minute video. Within 6 weeks you will receive a customized DVD with your video, as well as a youtube link to share if you wish. I also have digital frames available from sizes 8-18 inches that display both images and video so you can hang your family video on your wall. It's like a moving family picture! Alas no, I know what you are thinking, but I did not attend Hogwarts.
Weddings take about 4-6 weeks to edit completely. I will let you know when your images are complete and your USB is ready for pick up. After you review your images and decide on your favorites you'd like for your keepsakes, I will order them from professional labs to be sure you get the highest quality possible.
Wedding videos will be complete in 6-8 weeks, and you will receive a preview on youtube, and then I will let you know when your DVD is ready for pick-up.
If you have hired us for both wedding photography and videography, it may take up to 12 weeks for final delivery of all images, videos, and products.
Do I have to order at our Premiere Night?
If you decide not to order that evening, there is a $25 fee to create an online gallery and products will be at full retail price. You will not be able to order Collections.
